Rose hip or Rosehip is the name for the fruit of the various species of rose plants.
There is a wild rose species, commonly called Dog Rose which is a native species and is widely spread throughout Hungary. It is the Rosa Canina used since ancient times in traditional medicine for curing a wide range of illnesses and ailments. The climate and environmental conditions of the Carpathian basin are ideal for this sun-loving plant, which grows in the wild and has also been cultivated for centuries all over Hungary. The beautiful red or orange rose hips ripen during autumn and are harvested usually in early winter, after the first frosts.
The main benefits derived from rosehips are strengthening the immune system and providing anti-inflammatory properties.
Rosehips are rich in polyphenols, vitamins, and carotenoids making their extract an attractive skin care ingredient. The extract is rich in protective biomolecules and can improve the appearance, elasticity, and brightness of the skin. Rosehip oil supports a healthy skin membrane to protect skin against UV rays and pollution.
