Black Locust

Black Locust (Robinia Pseudoacacia) is a medium-size deciduous tree with beautiful, creamy-white flowers which are very fragrant and have a warm, honey, and balsamic scent. It was originally native to Noth America, and the first saplings arrived in Europe in the 17th Century.

After recognizing the outstanding characteristics of Black Locust, the species was introduced and spread within the Carpathian basin region and in Hungary. Nowadays, 20 per cent of the Hungarian forests are acacia woods and no other country in Europe boasts as many acacia woodlands as Hungary does.

It was chosen to be a ”Hungarikum”, an official Hungarian value in 2014.

Black Locust flower extracts contain valuable ingredients which have been used in the cosmetic industry for skin and hair care products for some time.

The main bioactive components in Black Locust flowers are flavonoids, phenolics, ascorbic acid, proteins, polysaccharides, and microelements. The polyphenols found in the flowers ensure a strong antioxidant value for skin care products as these can help prevent wrinkles and counteract the signs of aging.
